I have another finish to report this week, besides this one. Community quilts always come in 4′s. One was a rush and was finished quickly. 3 have been languishing for a while. I’m afraid to look back and see when they actually arrived, which makes me think that I should keep a real log, not just this journal.
Have a look at this very effective pattern. It’s all made from 2.5″ strips. It looks like there’s sashing but it’s just darks and lights used in opposite positions. Looking at the picture now, it almost looks like you can see through it in some spots because the some of the florals look like the pictures’ background. The back is a bed sheet but it wasn’t one of these really tight weaves and not a really loose one either. If you find yourself needing to stitch a very tight bedsheet, be sure to use a sharp fresh needle.
The front is stitched in harvest gold coloured thread to go with the dots in the outside border. On the back I used a light green. Light grey looked nice too. It was hard to decide. The pattern is bebits again. I just love this pattern. It’s appropriate so often. Ya gotta love that! And finally, I’m very pleased with my machine binding skills now. So, the week’s been rescued.
